Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ
- How long do your nut butters last? Please refrigerate after opening. Before opening, In a dry, dark place like the pantry all of our nut butters can last up to 4 months. Once opened and in the refrigerator, we recommend eating them within 60 days for optimum freshness and flavor.
- Why did my nut butter harden in the fridge? Once stored in the fridge, it is normal for your nut butter to not be as runny as it was before. This is because we don't add palm oil to our nut butters and keep them as natural as possible. If you want your nut butter to be more liquid-like, simply leave on the counter for a 5-10 minutes before serving, or put your desired serving size in the microwave for 10-15 seconds.
- Why is there oil on top of my nut butter? We do not add any preservatives and it is common to see oil on top of natural nut butters. Some flavors gain more oil than others depending on the consistency.
- My jar seal is broken. Is it safe to eat? We seal our products by hand one jar at a time. Occasionally, one corner of the seal doesn't stick. We've also found that the seals sometimes lift up when opening the jar lid. While more than likely safe, we understand a broken seal can be concerning and will make it right. Just reach out by email to contact@thebutterednut.com with photos of the broken seal and we will send a replacement!
- Where can I find nutrition information? We are currently in the process of conducting formal nutrition testing. Since we want to provide you with the most-accurate information, this is conducted by a third-party laboratory and can take some time. We will update each flavor as nutrition testing becomes available. In the meantime, you can expect the nutrition content to be similar to a traditional nut butter with added dates.
